Prof. Davis is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she earned a B.S. degree in Systems Engineering. She also earned a M.S. degree in Information Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Prof. Davis has been a college instructor since 2006. She has taught 16 different courses, including Microsoft Office Applications, Collaborative Technologies, Database Design, Programming Logic and Design, Introduction to Computing, Technology Optimization, Introduction to Storyboarding, and Web Design. She has always enjoyed teaching and loves helping her students discover new ways to use technology for creative problem solving. Her interests include digital accessibility for users with visual disabilities; API automation, low code app development, and training technologists to better understand the requirements of subject matter experts in other disciplines.
Prof. Davis spent five years as a government consultant for Electronic Data Systems Corporation, supporting various federal clients through project management, information architecture, strategic planning, and other consulting activities. In 2003, she established her own independent consulting agency and began providing graphic design, web development, and strategic services to businesses, schools, and non-profit organizations. In 2012 she rebranded her company to SparkDawn Media and added photography and videography services to the list of services provided. SparkDawn Media has provided photography, video production, graphic design, technology, consulting, and training services to thousands of athletes, families, students, and professionals, and in support of 29 athletic leagues and organizations, 74 restaurants, 33 non-profit organizations, 68 corporations and brands, 14 real estate agencies and professionals, and 13 educational institutions.
Prof. Davis currently resides in Newport News, VA with her husband and two sons: an Electrical Engineering major at Hampton University and a Graphic Design major and 2-sport athlete at Virginia State University. When she's not exploring fun new technologies, she's usually spending time with family and friends; listening to Christian, Gospel, or 80's music; watching or photographing sports; planning arts and crafts projects to do someday, or treasure hunting in local thrift stores.
